Case
The chassis is MIL-STD 810G certified and mostly metal for tougher first impressions than the carbon fiber-heavy ThinkPad P53. Its skeleton feels thick for a better sense of longevity that you don't otherwise see on many consumer laptops.

As strong as the chassis may be, however, we noticed a few physical defects on our test unit including a nick near the front edge, some bent ventilation grilles along the rear, an uneven gap between the front edge of the bottom plate and palm rests, and another uneven gap along the edge of the keyboard deck since the keyboard is removable. It's likely that these defects may be related to the fact that this is a test unit and not a retail unit, but they're worth double-checking for after purchasing just in case.

Connectivity
All ports from last year's Precision 7540 have carried over to the Precision 7550 albeit slightly rearranged. The competing ThinkPad P53 carries more USB ports than what Dell is able to offer here.
Note that the Nano-SIM slot is internal and cannot be accessed within first removing the bottom panel.
