Design
The Latitude E5450 may be marketed like a mainstream business laptop, but it's actually an ultrabook in everything but name. Measuring 0.9 by 13.2 by 9.1 inches (HWD), and weighing 3.98 pounds, it may not be as svelte as the Dell Latitude 14 7000 Series (E7450) or the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Touch (2015)(,281.75 at Lenovo), but the laptop meets the core requirements, with a 0.9-inch thickness, an ultrabook-class processor, and solid-state drive (SSD) storage.

The keyboard has a straightforward, chiclet-style design, with firm keys and good depth of movement, but without the backlighting you might expect to come standard in this price range. While many business systems opt for a dual-pointer design, with a pointing stick on the keyboard, the Latitude E5450 keeps things simple with a multitouch trackpad that handles all of your cursor control and gestures.

Features
There's a fair selection of ports, but most of these will be found on the back of the system, which is an irritating design choice, since it makes connecting peripherals a bit less convenient. Along the back of the system you'll find an Ethernet port, a VGA output, an HDMI-out port, and two USB 3.0 ports, along with a Power jack. On the right are an SD card slot and a single USB 3.0 port, this one with continuous power for charging devices. On the left are headset jack and a case-lock slot.
